POLOKWANE – A 44-year-old man will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle following his arrest on the N1 outside Polokwane on Monday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the man was arrested by members of the Anti-Smuggling Task Team following information about a white SUV travelling from Gauteng to Musina.
“The police reacted swiftly and located the motor vehicle which was spotted driving along the N1 north next to the ZZ2 farm outside Polokwane. The motor vehicle with one occupant was stopped and an investigation was conducted about its origin,” Ledwaba’s statement read.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen on July 31 in Wierdabrug, Pretoria and was intended for smuggling into Zimbabwe via the Beitbridge Border Post.
“The suspect was immediately arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and investigations continue,” Ledwaba said.
