MH learners dive into ocean studies with VR

Learners used VR headsets to experience an underwater aquarium video, raising awareness about conservation.

POLOKWANE – Mitchell House recently hosted an unforgettable virtual reality (VR) educational event for their Gr 1-6 junior phase and Enrichment Centre learners on July 26.

The VR visit was designed to raise awareness about the importance of saving our oceans and reducing plastic pollution.

The immersive experience allowed learners to feel as though they were truly underwater, viewing a video of an aquarium through VR headsets.

The vivid, 3D visuals offered a unique perspective on marine life and the impact of pollution.

“It was fun and scary at the same time, but I enjoyed the first and second ones because the last one was very scary. We were in the ocean with fish and sharks, and it felt as if they were touching us,” said learner Mashaka Junior.

The VR experience captivated the students, who enthusiastically shared their impressions.

“It is a new experience for learners, and we really hope that they’ll learn a thing or two because this is not only about having fun. I can also say that the learners seem really excited and everything is going well,” commented teacher Melissa Mostert.

The event was a resounding success, leaving students with lasting memories and a greater understanding of the importance of ocean conservation.
