POLOKWANE – Malesela Machete who is accused of murdering his lover, Mpho Mokwele, abandoned bail during his first appearance in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Thursday,
Machete made his first appearance after being hospitalised following a mob attack in relation to his alleged crime.

Machete is accused of stabbing Mokwele several times in her upper body following a scuffle on July 6.
Mokwele died upon arrival at hospital.
“The suspect took the victim’s mother’s vehicle and drove off. The victim then alerted her mother, who called him and insisted that he return the vehicle. The 30-year-old man did as instructed, but a violent altercation followed,”police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.

Police confirmed that Mokwele had been stabbed in the upper body several times, before collapsing.
Machete remains in custody before his next appearance on September 16.
