A brush with success for Paint and Wine’s Sheralyn

Sheralyn Janse van Rensburg's Paint and Wine events have brought a blend of art, wine, and relaxation to Polokwane's entertainment scene.

POLOKWANE – Inspired by her love for painting and a desire to bring joy to her community, Sheralyn Janse van Rensburg, originally from Johannesburg and now residing in Polokwane since 2018, launched a Paint and Wine event.

WineLand Magazine, formerly known as Die Wynboer, which existed for the past 93 years, recognised her unique Paint and Wine event, and featured her in a centre spread article in this month’s edition.

Janse van Rensburg’s unique concept combines art and fine wine, offering a fun and therapeutic experience.

The sales and marketing manager at Polokwane Observer said that she embarked on this journey because she believed that such an event would redefine entertainment in the city.

Sheralyn Janse van Rensburg (Paint and Wine lady) offers a fun and therapeutic experience in the city.

“I envisioned a space where people could unwind, socialise, and give free rein to their creativity, while enjoying a glass of wine. I was immediately struck by the lack of entertainment options in the area.”

The idea of Paint and Wine originated from watching an episode of ‘Undercover Boss’ where the original Paint and Sip owner went undercover. Inspired, she decided to create a similar event.

She made many easels and hosted her first event at a church fundraiser, which marked the beginning of her journey.

The inaugural event in 2019 was a resounding success, attracting 56 participants, primarily women. This initial triumph was followed by an increase to 92 participants the following month.

“The event focuses on the overall experience rather than solely on painting. Imagine a space where participants engage in artistic endeavours guided by stencils, with an atmosphere filled with laughter, relaxation, and enjoyment.”

Janse van Rensburg often collaborates with local restaurants to provide diverse wine options.

Despite logistical challenges, such as limited wine varieties in the area, her commitment to offering unique wine experiences reflects her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to the community.
She has hosted events at prestigious locations including Sun City and exclusive game farms, including a memorable Women’s Day event for 150 attendees in Rustenburg.

“I find joy in bringing a smile to people’s faces and creating unforgettable experiences for my community. I also plan to expand Paint and Wine, possibly by focusing on wine experiences in new locations.”
