Naledi (7) leads by example with charity donation

Naledi donated pre-loved clothes to underprivileged children showing kindness and a passion for giving back to the community.

POLOKWANE – Naledi Ramokone, a Gr 2 learner from Bet-Shalom Christian School, donated pre-loved clothes to underprivileged children at the Seshego Zone 1 Masakaneng Kitchen Soup on Thursday. The seven-year-old was accompanied by her mother, Maletsema.

Ramokone believes that giving back to the community boosts self-confidence and contributes to personal growth.

“I always remind Naledi that participating in community activities is a great way to discover new interests and hobbies and take on new challenges. It also creates a sense of purpose and provides opportunities to gather positive life experiences,” Maletsema said.

She added that Naledi advocates for young children’s rights, especially during Mandela Month.

“She leads by example, not only by voicing her support but also by taking action to help other kids feel less vulnerable. Naledi is known as one of Limpopo’s young advocates, and she aims to lead by example. Her act of giving back is a sign of kindness to her peer group,” Maletsema said.

Ramokone mentioned that they live by the Bible verse Hebrews 13:16: “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

This annual initiative involves collecting clothes to donate. Those interested in helping or donating can contact them at 067 833 3304.

Bet-Shalom Gr 2 teacher Portia Tongogara expressed pride in Naledi’s work.

“This is a good initiative indeed because it sends out a good message that pageants are not just about the beauty, but it can be used to address problems that faces our communities. Bet-Shalom is a Christian school that encourages Christians values, of which giving to the needy is one of them.

“I’m very happy and proud to learn that Naledi donated to the less privileged. You can always start small with the little that you have. Naledi is also very smart academically. She can easily get a 100 percent in an assessment paper, especially in mathematics. She gets along very well with other learners and does not look down on other children. She likes sharing, when she has more. It is a pleasure to have such a beautiful soul in my class,” Tongogara said.

Naledi holds four titles in provincial and national pageant competitions.

Recently, she won the first princess title at the Queen of South Africa 2024 competition in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, and the junior category of Limpopo’s Top Model 2024.

She is currently a semi-finalist for Miss Capricorn 2024, actively participating in community events and charity drives.
