Limpopo police on the hunt for ‘most wanted’ Zimbabwean national

Lovemore Musoyi is wanted in connection with more than 10 criminal cases, escaped a police van in January and shot a man in his mouth in February.

LIMPOPO – Police detectives in the Sekhukhune District have launched a massive manhunt for the most wanted suspect, Lovemore Musoyi, a Zimbabwean national believed to be around 35-years-old.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Musoyi is wanted in connection with more than 10 criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, armed, house and business robberies, kidnapping, assaults, stock theft, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition that occurred in Elandskraal, Motetema, Dennilton and the Rakgoadi policing areas in the Sekhukhune District.

“One of Musoyi’s recent incidents occurred on June 20 where he and accomplices carried out a brazen business robbery at a tuck-shop in Mafisheng village. During the robbery, Musoyi viciously attacked a male victim, whom he accused of betrayal, and proceeded to assault him with an axe. The suspects then looted the shop, stealing both money and soft drinks before fleeing the scene,” Ledwaba said.

Musoyi escaped from a police vehicle at the Moutse Mall in Dennilton on January 1 while en-route to the Witbank Correctional Services. This escape occurred alongside two other suspects, who were subsequently re-arrested.

On February 2, Musoyi is said to have had a violent altercation at his ex-girlfriend’s residence, resulting in him shooting the woman’s brother in the mouth before he fled the scene with a television set.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered a team of investigators to intensify efforts to locate and apprehend Musoyi.

“The public is urged to provide any information that may lead to his swift arrest and bring him to justice by contacting Lieutenant Colonel Boshomane on 079 894 5501, the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, the nearest police station or via the MySAPSApp.”
