Vhembe healthcare revamp under new MEC

New Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego promises to transform Vhembe's healthcare, prioritising patient satisfaction and staff collaboration.

LIMPOPO – The newly appointed Health MEC, Dieketseng Mashego, has vowed to enhance healthcare services and ensure patients are treated with respect under her administration.

Mashego, accompanied by the Health executive team, including Vhembe’s executive manager of Health, Robert Sirwali, and several hospital CEOs, visited Hayani Hospital near Sibasa on June 27.

The visit was part of her introduction to the district’s health leadership and stakeholders under the new seventh administration.

Appointed by Premier Phophi Ramathuba, this was Mashego’s first visit to Vhembe since her appointment on June 13.

She emphasised her commitment to fostering strong collaborative relationships and ensuring a smooth transition into the new administration.

“The visit also served as a platform for engaging with various stakeholders, including hospital staff, local health officials, and community leaders, to align on shared goals and initiatives for enhancing healthcare delivery in the region. We aim to forge a positive working environment with you as workers in the department. We all have roles to play in improving the healthcare system,” said Mashego.

She added that she has established an open-door policy, welcoming anyone willing to contribute positively to the healthcare centre’s vision.

“The people in Vhembe and elsewhere in the province deserve improved quality services. They look to us for solutions and we must not fail them. We need to provide uninterrupted medication, ensure staff availability, and guarantee that patients leave our hospitals, clinics, and healthcare centres satisfied,” she stated.
