Mulaudzi shines at Vhembe Youth in Business Awards

Mulaudzi, owner of The Anza Life Style Lodge, won the tourism award and emphasised the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving her dreams.

LIMPOPO – The Dzanani Community Hall in Biaba, Nzhelele, was filled with ululations and applause as Mukovhe Mulaudzi, owner of The Anza Life Style Lodge, was named the winner in the tourism sector at the Vhembe Youth in Business Competition Awards 2024.

The event celebrated the hard work and dedication of young entrepreneurs, with Mulaudzi receiving a cheque for R135 000.

“I feel delighted and very thankful to be a part of this prestigious event. Our dreams are always possible; it is only hard work and dedication that can put you up there,” Mulaudzi said.

Her victory highlights the growing yet challenging tourism sector in Vhembe, which encompasses numerous departments.

Mulaudzi expressed her commitment to advancing her studies in tourism to one day become an expert in the field.

She plans to use the prize money to enhance the lodge’s facilities, procure more indigenous plants for landscaping, and improve the road leading to the lodge, which was damaged during the rainy season.

The Anza Life Style Lodge, located in Louis Trichardt in the Makhado Local Municipality, provides accommodation and has created jobs for 28 employees, working in shifts. The lodge caters to all types of tourists, contributing significantly to the local economy.

Another notable winner was Sedzani Colbert Mulaudzi of Ndisedzi Poultry Pty Ltd in the agricultural sector. Located in Vyeboom, Hamasia, within the Collins Chabane Municipality, Sedzani’s poultry farm spans five hectares and houses 3 800 layers, boasting an annual turnover of R3.4m.

His market includes several retailers in Vuwani, Giyani and various Somali-owned shops and hawkers.

Nyazani Rerani, the 2023 commercial winner from Biaba in the Nzhelele area, encouraged young entrepreneurs not to lose hope.

He emphasised the importance of hard work and dedication, sharing that success often comes after long periods of struggle.

“One needs to be hands-on and hardworking. You will not succeed if you rely on working remotely,” he advised.

Acting Vhembe Mayor Rose Mathukha affirmed the district’s commitment to supporting youth empowerment and entrepreneurship.

“We recognise the potential of our young people to contribute to the district’s economic development and social transformation. We gather to acknowledge and reward your hard work, dedication, and innovation. Your achievements are a testament to the fact that our district is a hub of talent, creativity, and entrepreneurship,” Mathukha said.

Mathukha congratulated all the award winners and thanked their partners and stakeholders for supporting initiatives that empower young people and encourage them to excel in their businesses.

The Vhembe Youth in Business Competition Awards 2024 showcased the exceptional talent and entrepreneurial spirit within the district, promising a bright future for its young business leaders.
