Several streets in Polokwane to close for rehabilitation

The Polokwane Municipality said the closures are necessary to ensure the proper rehabilitation and improvement of municipal street infrastructure.

POLOKWANE – Residents, businesses and motorists should note the temporary closure of portions of several streets in the city due to necessary rehabilitation work.

The Polokwane Municipality said the affected streets and their respective closure segments will be closed from July 2 to 22.

The following streets will be affected:

– Boom Street from Devenish to Excelsior;
– Bodenstein Street from Paul Kruger to Schoeman;
– Rabe Street from Plein to Oost;
– Dorp Street from Hospital to Rabe;
– Jorissen Street from Plein to Dorp; and
– Hans van Rensburg Street from Devenish to Grobler.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said other portions will be reopened as the contractor completes them.

“These closures are necessary to ensure the proper rehabilitation and improvement of municipal street infrastructure, which is vital for enhancing road safety, reducing congestion, and improving overall traffic flow within the city,” he said.

Selala urged those affected to be patient and cooperate during this period.

“The municipality will provide regular updates on the progress of the rehabilitation work and notify the public as soon as the streets are reopened,” he said.
