More water supply interruptions for Polokwane

A leak on the Specon pipeline will result in more water woes for the City of Polokwane.

POLOKWANE – Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) is currently addressing two separate incidents necessitating repairs on the Ebenezer and Olifantspoort water supply lines.

According to the Polokwane Municipality’s spokesperson Thipa Selala, LNW is busy with repairs on a leak on the Specon pipeline of which the completion timeframes will be shared once the extent of the damage has been fully assessed.

“This repair work will affect water supply to all areas serviced by this pipeline, including the city, Ga-Chuene and Seshego,” Selala said.

Meanwhile, the Polokwane Muncipality has condemned the illegal connection that has caused a pipe leak on the Ebenezer line in the Matshelapata area.

This, he says, will not affect supply to affected customers.

“LNW has assured the municipality that there will be no water supply interruption during these repairs as they have implemented measures to ensure continuous supply. They estimate that repairs will be completed by midnight,” he said.

Selala said illegal water connections pose significant risks, including water supply disruptions, health hazards and damage to infrastructure.

“It is by this reason that the Polokwane Municipality condemns these illegal activities and urges all residents to report any suspicious activities related to illegal water connections immediately. The municipality is working closely with LNW and law enforcement agencies to address and eliminate incidents like this,” his statement concluded.
