Damaged power line leaves a large part of Polokwane in the dark

Some of the areas affected by this outage include Ladanna, Bendor, Thornhill, Emdo Park, Mahlasedi Park and parts of Fauna Park.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Muncipality says it is unable to give a time of restoration for the mass power outage affecting the city.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said the current power outage is due to an incident where a truck accidentally damaged a power line resulting in the Alpha Substation going offline.

“This has also impacted the Gamma, Iota, and Delta substations as a result,” his statement read.

Some of the areas affected by this outage include Ladanna, Bendor, Thornhill, Emdo Park, Mahlasedi Park and parts of Fauna Park.

“A maintenance team is working diligently to address the issue. The municipality will provide regular updates on the progress made. In the meantime, all users in the affected areas are advised to treat all electrical wiring as live and to switch off all appliances to avoid injury and damage once power supply is restored,” he said.
