LIMPOPO – Masase Restaurant, located in the Matidza Complex, has quickly become one of the most recommended dining spots in the Thohoyandou CBD.

Renowned for its exquisite and flavourful dishes, Masase offers a menu that includes chicken hardbody, beef stew, wors, steak and chicken feet.

Each meal is complemented by side salads and a choice of starch, such as rice or pap, based on the customer’s preference.

Opened in March, the restaurant provides a cozy and inviting atmosphere, accommodating approximately 30 seated guests. Despite its intimate size, Masase serves over 100 customers daily, thanks to its exceptional culinary offerings and dedicated service by a staff of four.

Princess Mundalamo, the visionary behind the restaurant, shared her inspiration with CV, explaining her lifelong passion for cooking.

“I started cooking at a very young age. As I grew older, it became one of my responsibilities at home, and I loved it. Opening a restaurant was a natural progression for me, combining my love for cooking with a desire to offer the community something unique and delicious.”

Mundalamo’s culinary journey is deeply rooted in family traditions.

“My parents hosted guests every weekend, and all the kids would help prepare the food. It was a family tradition that instilled in me a love for cooking,” she recalled.

Looking ahead, Mundalamo has ambitious plans for Masase. “My goal is to expand the restaurant and open branches throughout Thohoyandou and Sibasa, making it a must-visit destination for tourists. Our food is in high demand, and we are eager to meet our customers’ needs,” she said.

The restaurant also serves as a social hub, offering a mature and relaxed atmosphere for businesswomen and professionals to unwind.

“Masase was born from our need for a place to relax and enjoy high-class comforts. It’s where you can make friends and meet business associates, especially after a long day at work,” Mundalamo explained.

In addition to building a reputable brand, Mundalamo is committed to creating employment opportunities for the youth.

“We want Masase to be known as a place where mature individuals can enjoy themselves and where we can take pride in our achievements,” she noted.

Mundalamo’s advice to young entrepreneurs is to trust their instincts and believe in their abilities.

“We are not born to be losers. Trust your instincts and capabilities, and take advice when it’s given. Build your own empire to benefit your community,” she concluded.
