Limpopo’s Warm and Wild Winter campaign to encourage tourism

The campaign capitalises on tourist destinations in the province that are known for their relatively warmer weather during winter.

LIMPOPO – Limpopo’s Tourism Agency (LTA) launched its Warm Wild Winter Campaign themed Warm Wild Winter at Letaba Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park (KNP) on Thursday.

LTA in collaboration with Limpopo Economic Development and Tourism (Ledet) and other tourism stakeholders including the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality and tourism associations in the province, launched the 2024 instalment of the campaign.

The idea of launching the campaign for a second time in the park was to emphasise the point of reclaiming the KNP, of which 70% is situated in Limpopo. The aim of the event was to showcase Limpopo as the preferred destination for the winter and encourage local and international tourists to visit the region.

The campaign capitalises on tourist destinations in the province that are known for their relatively warmer weather during winter.

LTA encourages visitors to use other access points from the Limpopo side to enjoy what the province has on offer, especially taking up activities one would ordinarily do in summer because of the warmer winter temperatures.

LTA board chairperson Andrew Dipela said they invite people “to come to the province with the two summers”.

“This is a call for them to escape the cold winters in their respective provinces to Limpopo, that knows no cold winter,” said Dipela.

Ledet MEC Rodgers Monama said the Warm Wild Winter Campaign is one of the key deliverables of the Limpopo Tourism Agency.

“We are using this campaign to promote and market Limpopo as a viable tourist destination both locally and to the rest of the world, and to enhance stakeholder relations in the tourism industry. We are grateful to launch this in this world-renowned national park and home of the Big 5, which we share with our neighbours, Mpumalanga.”
