Every snip is a step closer to Tenia’s hairdressing dream

Limpopo Hair and Beauty College student Tenia Albertyn says working with hair is not just a job but a calling.

POLOKWANE – At the age of 21, Tenia Albertyn is making waves in the world of hairdressing.

Hailing from Tzaneen, Tenia is a student at the Limpopo Hair and Beauty College and says she feels privileged to be part of college as it is in her home province.

According to Tenia, working with hair is not just a job but a calling.

“It is an honour to make a difference in women’s lives because hair is not just strands but a crown that should be worn with a smile,” she remarked.

Tenia attends classes every Thursdays and she says the distance from Tzaneen to Polokwane does not bother her because she knows that it is worth it and she is doing what she loves so it is not something to worry about.

“Limpopo Hair and Beauty College does not only educate me but it also helps me to fulfill my lifelong dream.”

It has always been her dream to be a hairdresser and be able to put a smile on someone’s face.

The industry of hairdressing is an important one as it contributes to modifying a persons beauty and being able to boost a persons self confidence. Some people feel incomplete if their hair is not done or it is messy and it drops their self-confidence.

In a world often marked with brokenness, Tenia sees beauty as a healer as she says it is a privilege to mend the brokenness with beauty.

“I wish to have my own salon and become the best hairdresser I could possibly be.”

For Tenia, every snip of her pair of scissors is a step closer to her dreams.
