LIMPOPO – The Limpopo police say a minor suspect is known but has not yet been arrested for the alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl near Villa Nora outside Lephalale.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said a case of rape has been opened after the Gr 2 learner was allegedly raped at her primary school in Shongoane village.
“It is reported that the victim was at school when she was taken to a toilet and raped by a Gr 7 learner between 12:00 and 14:30,” his statement read.
Ledwaba said the police report states that the victim arrived at home complaining about pain in her leg and her mother checked but thought it was a minor injury.
“The victim then started crying and was put on the bed for observation. The mother of the victim noticed that something was wrong with her private parts and she was rushed to a local clinic,” he said.
Upon arrival, the minor child was examined by medical personnel who later confirmed that she had been raped.
“Police investigations continue,” he concluded.
