Tubatse man stabs girlfriend multiple times in murder-suicide incident

Limpopo police say domestic violence cannot be ruled out after the body of a woman in her late 20's was found with multiple stab wounds in Tubatse.

LIMPOPO – The police in Tubatse have opened an inquest docket and a case of murder following a murder-suicide incident on Sunday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said a 36-year-old man fatally stabbed his girlfriend before hanging himself.

“The police were summoned to the scene at a rental place in GaMashamothane village where they found the body of a woman who might be in her late 20’s with multiple stab wounds. The police then received information that the deceased’s boyfriend was found hanging in the nearby bushes,” his statement read.

The deceased’s car was found parked on the roadside and his body hanging from a tree.

“It is believed that the boyfriend stabbed his girlfriend to death and dumped her body at the rental place and then drove to the bushes and hanged himself. The identities of the deceased will be released in due course,” he said.

Ledwaba added that the motive behind the incident is unknown but that domestic violence cannot be ruled out.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident and urged people experiencing domestic challenges to seek help instead of resorting to violence.
