Find the root cause to manage an eating disorder

Health expert Onnica Kwakwa said that the body releases toxins and that people must learn to be in the perpetual state of detoxing.

POLOKWANE – Onnica Kwakwa, health expert believes the only way to manage and treat eating disorders, is to find the root of the cause. She says many people need to find out why they find themselves in that detrimental unhealthy state. “Everything has a cause and to manage this matter we need to investigate why people suffer from eating disorders. We advocate for people who seek mental help. Most of the people are dealing with mental issues which have led them into various eating disorders.

Some of the causes of eating disorders are trauma, depression and anxiety. People have serious mental issues and they don’t want to talk about them.”

She added that some people gain weight and some lose weight when they have mental problems, which contributes to eating disorders. “When you are depressed you can’t move. People in that state don’t sleep and they are more on food binging. They indulge in unhealthy food. They drink lots of energy drinks which are unhealthy and consume lots of oily foods. People are dealing with financial problems, death, job losses and they don’t know how to manage their stress levels. “

She further stated that those that are struggling with eating disorders must find something exciting to do. “They must find new hobbies, read books, take a walk, spend time with loved ones and exercise, instead of resorting to excessive eating, or not eating at all. Exercising helps because when you exercise the body releases a happy hormone which can counter the stress levels. The body also releases toxins. People must learn to be in the perpetual state of detoxing. Their bodies must be in an alkaline state.”
