Attempted hijacking leads to the death of a Seshego man

Police say the victim drove himself to hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning following an attempted hijacking.

POLOKWANE – Detectives from the Seshego police station are investigating a case of murder after a 47-year-old man succumbed to a stab wound in hospital.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said they were alerted to the situation by staff at the hospital after the man was admitted in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Ledwaba said the man had initially driven himself to the hospital on Saturday morning (March 9) following an attack by unidentified individuals who attempted to hijack him.

The man received treatment and was discharged the following day.

It is said the man then sought medical advice at a local facility on Monday before returning home but experienced severe pain in the early hours of Tuesday morning and was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries.

“At this stage, the identity of the victim is being withheld pending further investigation,” Ledwaba said.

He added that a case of murder has been opened and that a manhunt has been launched for those responsible.
