POLOKWANE – Two of the five accused in the murder case of provincial education circuit manager Dr Malekutu Johannes Mehlape have applied for bail, while the other three suspects abandoned their bail application.
Mehlape was shot dead on December 28 during a supposed house robbery in Mankweng, and his daughter, Mologadi (27), has been identified by the police as an accomplice in the murder case.
According to Limpopo NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the victim’s daughter and her aunt, Mahlodi Mathole (34), applied for bail in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Friday, while Tshepo Ranoto (34), Lehlohonolo Magatlane (34) and Michael Molongoane (42) abandoned their bail.
The five accused face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, the possession of an unlicensed firearm, and unlicensed ammunition.
