Vhembe’s top cop serves with pride

Col Rudzani Rakhadani who was the only one in the SAPS Vhembe district to receive a trophy and certificate remarked that it is important to help the communities in fighting crime.

LIMPOPO – Vhembe’s top cop, Col Rudzani Rakhadani was honoured by provincial police commissioner Lt Genl Thembi Hadebe in her section of visible policing during a meeting held at Tshipise Forever Resort in December.

She said Rakhadani is a go-getter and an initiator of projects and crime-fighting initiatives in her district

Col Rakhadani, who was the only one in the SAPS Vhembe district to receive a trophy and certificate remarked that it is important to help the communities in fighting crime. “We have to stand up and work hard as the women and men in blue to fight crime in our communities.”

Among others, she initiated the Mr and Ms SAPS Vhembe beauty pageant which aims to build confidence among police members in the region. Rakhadani also made headlines when recently celebrating her 59th birthday with disabled children from the Ri songo neta Day Care Centre in the Tshaulu policing area.

Vhembe district commissioner Maj Gen Eddie van der Walt, members from the district office, and 22 station commanders were in attendance.

Sgt Mienkie Ramakgoakgoa, attached to the SAPS Provincial Centre said the main objective of the session was to assess and monitor the performance of police stations in all areas of crime.

She said before the meeting, provincial heads visited police stations in Vhembe.

Hadebe advised the station commanders, detective commanders and Vispol commanders present to not lose focus in the battle against crime, and called on the family violence, child protection and sexual offenses units to stay committed to their jobs and arrests suspects while the cases are still fresh.
