Face of Polokwane winner feels blessed to wear the crown

Ceinwynne Nkuna looks forward to starting an NPO which is going to focus on helping those in need.

POLOKWANE – Ceinwynne Nkuna was crowned the overall winner of Face of Polokwane on December 29.

The 16-year-old, who also holds the title of Miss Hope 2024 is a beauty queen with a purpose and doing exceptionally well for someone who only started participating in pageants in 2022.

“My journey began after I was inspired by a radio interview with a beauty queen. She was talking about how she built herself self-confidence by competing. At the time, I lacked self-esteem and my mother noticed it. She advised me to get into pageantry,” she said.

They hit the ground running and found an agency where she was coached in July 2022, and her hard work paid off when she was crowned Queen of the North Teen 2023.

Speaking on her recent win, Ceinwynne said she feels blessed.

“My faith in God has been at the forefront of everything I do. I believe that He is the one that has granted me the knowledge and courage to be able to compete and take the titles home,” she said.

She looks forward to starting an NPO which is going to focus on helping those in need.

She will also be visiting various schools such as the Rethuseng Special School at Ga-Matlala which she says is close to her heart.

“I will be motivating and making donations to assist where they have shortages.

“I want to reign as a queen who lives and embodies her advocacy of helping out the less fortunate so many of my plans will branch out from there as time goes on,” she said.

To attain a balance between pageants, school and family, she operates on a strict and well organised schedule and even though she holds big titles, at home she is encouraged to put school first.

“I strive to not only be a pageant queen but to also bag academic titles,” she added.

Other than pageants, she also serves in ministry as a singer and worship singer and runs a small business of self-care products which she makes in her free time. She is also a budding makeup artist.

“I enjoy doing people’s makeup for a small income, which funds my pageantry journey,” she said.

She said she doesn’t feel pressurised to be perceived as perfect just because she is in the industry.

“Pageants mean being yourself. My biggest strategy is engaging with everyone and everything that has to do with the specific pageant I am entering. I take time to ‘stalk’ and know everything about it. Be the girl they’ll never forget,” she added.
