Help Gift a Child bring Christmas cheer
Gift a Child Foundation will be hosting a charity event on December 15 for the children in their community and need your assistance with donations.
POLOKWANE – Gift a Child Foundation needs your help to make a memorable Christmas season for the children of Emdo Park.
The foundation, which was founded in March this year is a rebirth of an organisation Young Development Ambassadors of Southern Africa which was initially established by youth in the area in 2016.
They will be hosting a charity event on December 15 for the children in their community. Khulong Mogajane, the chairperson explained that this initiative comes as a result of youth taking the decision to give back to the community and doing something positive.
“This is a gesture of appreciation and we partnered with local churches and creches to identify some of the children. We also extended an invitation to the local team for u/14s. We have also invited parents to bring their children to the event on the day,” explained Mogajane.
They are expecting approximately 150 children between the ages of two and 14 years at the event and there will be loads of activities like a colour run, dance competition and gifts handover among other things. He explained that they chose this age range because they are the most vulnerable and receive very little social appreciation and development. “The event will be both fun and educational for the children. With lots of activities that will be inspirational to the contribution of community development. The aim of the event is to demonstrate motivation and possibility to the upcoming generations,” he added.
Gift a Child Foundation will be welcoming donations of toys, school shoes, uniform, stationary, sanitary towels, food parcels, entertainment and refreshments until December 13. Contact 074 272 4798 for more information.
