Single mom Seemole makes a living by selling snacks

Seemole Mogale's advice to young women is to stand up, go out there and find something that will benefit them.

POLOKWANE – Seemole Mogale (26) from Ga-Dikgale in Titibe village sells curry fish, eggs, popcorn, chips, sweets, ice-pops, peanuts and other types of snacks to make a living.

As a single parent and mother to a 10-year-old boy, Khomotso, Mogale told BONUS she wanted to be independent and not have to rely on anyone in life.

“I was raised by a single parent myself so I now know how it feels and how hard my mom worked to put bread on the table for us. When I saw that it was challenging to get a job, I decided to sell snacks at local schools and at sporting events where I get to interact with learners, soccer players and passersby. I enjoy the atmosphere and environment because it’s stress-free,” she said.

Mogale started selling snacks in January 2020 and said it’s not easy to start something on your own.

“From all these challenges, I’ve tried to push through the hard times because I know that in the end, I’m doing it for my son and I.”

Her advice to young women is to stand up, go out there and find something that will benefit them.

“I know a lot of people who have graduated but still have not found work. When I make enough money, I aspire to study social work because I love to help people and help them through the difficult times. I’ll be helping them from most of my experiences. In the meantime, I’m working so that I can save up.”
