Cooking up a storm at Global Entrepreneurship Week

The aim of Global Entrepreneurship Week is to celebrate and empower entrepreneurs in every country and community around the world.

POLOKWANE – With the theme ‘Celebrating shared challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship within the food sector’, Polokwane chefs and cooks took part in the appetising contest as they cooked up a storm during the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) culinary show at Nirvana Hall on November 7.

A qualified chef graduate from the Limpopo Chef Academy, Sannie ‘Fresh Prince of Polokwane’ Chauke was the programme director as he introduced the judges as well as the contestants.

Professional chef, businesswoman and a judge on the day, Wendy Nemukula collaborated with GEW and the Polokwane Municipality to make this event possible.

Mahlatse Mongatane (Capricorn TVET College hospitality student) assists Eunice Maenetje from Grattos Baking and Confectionery and Catering Services.

“I’m super excited and I appreciate everyone who came to support us on this special day. It’s a big win for me and we’re hoping to branch out next year,” Nemukula.

Contestants teamed up and went head-to-head in a five-course meal using ingredients that were provided.

The aim of GEW is to celebrate and empower entrepreneurs in every country and community around the world.

The meals and dessert prepared during the competition were judged, and the winners will be announced at the prize-giving at Park Inn by Radisson Polokwane this Friday.
