Ballroom dancer Adelaide Hlungwani wins sportswomen of the year award
Adelaide Hlungwani from the University of Limpopo is the reigning South African Adult Latin American title holder for the South African Dance Federation (SADF) for 2022.
POLOKWANE – The inaugural Limpopo Sports Confederation’s Women in Sport Awards Ceremony was hosted at The Ranch Resort on Saturday ( October 28).
Adelaide Hlungwani, a professional ballroom dancer under the University of Limpopo (UL) from Polokwane is the reigning South African Adult Latin American title holder for the South African Dance Federation (SADF) for 2022.
Against all odds, Hlungwani qualified to compete at the 2022 World Dance Council Championships.
“I’m honored to have won the award for Sportswoman of the Year knowing that I’m raising our flag high. Thank you to the Limpopo Sports Confederation for the valuable support that they have given to all ballroom dancers in our province. After listening to the feedback from the Limpopo Sport Confederation Summit, I am looking forward to seeing even more advances in the development of the athletes in Limpopo,” Hlungwani said.
Hlungwani also extended her gratitude to everyone who supported her on every trip this year because that gave them the opportunity to go represent UL aswell as the province and the country.
“All your support has made the historic inaugural awards for women possible. I look forward to what comes next in sport for Limpopo and a big well done to all the ladies that received awards,” Hlungwani said.
