POLOKWANE – Neil Rathmann, a member from the Polokwane Golf Club was the overall winner of the Sesambos Open 2023 after beating 33 other golfers from various provinces to the title on September 30.
The open was played in medal stroke play format, and Rathmann secured the feat with par three for 36 holes.
JP Ellis, chief operations manager at the Limpopo Golf Union says the win will boost his confidence ahead of the South African mid Amateur Golf Championship set for Reading Country Club in Alberton on October 4 to 9.
“Neil is the captain of the Limpopo team for that tournament. The victory is a big confidence booster for him and it shows that he is prepared for the national event.”
Rathmann has been in scintillating form this year and has won major championships including the Soutpansberg Golf Open at the Soutpansberg Golf Club in Louis Trichardt.
He is also one of the golfers to look out for at the Limpopo Toyota Baobab Classic tournament, set for October 27 at the Polokwane Golf Club.
