Limpopo teacher shot and killed during hijacking

Robert Mudau was described as a hardworking and loving person who always smiled.

LIMPOPO – Community members in Mukondeni are reeling with shock after a well-known teacher was shot dead at Magoro on September 21, and his vehicle was found burnt out roughtly 50km from where his body was found.

Robert Mudau (66), who has been described by many as a hardworking man, was a teacher at Tshiitwa High School in the Mashamba area.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that a 56-year-old man was found shot dead and that a case of murder and hijacking had been opened.

“The police will work hard to track down the culprits, so that they can be brought to book. We are definitely going to make a breakthrough and the murderers will not get away with it. We request the community to come forward with evidence which will lead to the arrest of the culprits and report this to the nearest police station.”

Mudau’s sister, Lillian Mudau said she was shocked to learn about the death of her beloved brother.

“I received a call on the morning of the incident, informing me about Robert’s death. I was shocked and confused. He was such a good man. We are waiting for the law to take its course, although we know that my brother will never come back.”

She described her brother as a loving person who always smiled.

“He laughed and joked with everyone and he had no grudges against anybody. We will miss him dearly. We are devastated and not at peace after this incident. We want to see the people who did this behind bars.”

Mudau was buried at Mukondeni on September 30.
