Solly Galane to go on trial for ex-girlfriend’s murder

Solly Galane, who has been accused of a crime before, stands accused of having run Phuti Mamabolo over with his vehicle in June last year.

POLOKWANE – The trial of Solly Galane for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Phuti Mamabolo has been scheduled for February 26 – March 1 in the Limpopo High Court.

This was announced on September 14 by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), as Galane stands accused of having run Mamabolo over with his vehicle in Seshego Zone 6 in June last year.

The police earlier reported that her body was found in the street after she had reportedly broken up with the accused, which made him one of the first suspects. It had not been the first time the suspect had been accused of a crime. Earlier, he was granted bail of R500 after she filed an assault case.

The accused appeared in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court in the murder case where he abandoned bail, but recently applied and was granted bail of R15 000.

In another successful prosecution in a murder case, judge Gerrit Muller announced on August 28, that the NPA’s decision was to sentence Josias Leboho to life imprisonment for premeditated murder, three years for possession of an unlicensed firearm and one year for possession of ammunition in the death of Tshepo Rakoma in 2021 at a parking lot of a retailer in the Polokwane CBD.

The prosecutor in the case, Malebo Maleka proved beyond reasonable doubt that Leboho had planned to kill Rakoma, Muller said in sentencing Leboho.
