POLOKWANE – The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has strongly condemned the acts depicted in a now viral video in which two siblings from Ga-Mashashane assault their mother and demand her grant money.
Despite the incident occurring in October 2022, the viral nature of the video has led to the arrest of one of the women while the second is sought by police.
According to information provided, police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the two siblings assaulted their mother in a public space and were captured on video which was posted on social media.

“The video reached the police on Tuesday (September 20) and the victim (49) was approached. A case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against her two daughters was opened and one of the suspects was immediately arrested The arrest of the second suspect will happen soon,” his statement read.
Hadebe said the province will not tolerate children who abuse their parents in any matter.
“Courts and prisons will always be there for corrective justice when family set ups collapse in restoring good morals and respect to an extend when the rights of another person is violated,” she said.
