Fugitive who shot himself during arrest wanted by Limpopo police

Thabo Ali Molobela is said to have escaped from the Sekororo Hospital where he was under police guard after he shot himself during his arrest over a week ago.

LIMPOPO – A 35-year-old man who escaped from police custody on Wednesday (September 20) is now the subject of an intense manhunt by the Limpopo police.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered that all appropriate resources hunt down Thabo Ali Molobela who is said to have escaped from the Sekororo Hospital where he was under police guard.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said Molobela shot himself during his arrest over a week ago but was disarmed and rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

“The fugitive was apprehended at Santeng village in Hoedspruit after allegedly shooting six family members at Makgophong village on August 19,” his statement read.

Ledwaba added that the circumstances surrounding Molobela’s escape is currently under investigation.

Hadebe cautioned anyone found to be assisting a fugitive, adding that it is a criminal offence and subject to the full might of the law.

“Anyone with information that can assist with Molobela’s rearrest should urgently contact the Investigating Officer Warrant Officer Phaladi Makola on 082 749 2233; the crime stop number 08600 10111, at the nearest police station or via the MySapsApp,” Ledwaba said.
