Khutsiso’s shoe donation is a step in the right direction

Khutsiso Chuene is also the founder of the Khutsiso Sports Development Foundation that aims to grow community sport and keep children off the streets.

POLOKWANE – A little surely goes a long way.

After noticing that many young children in his community walk to school with broken shoes and some barefoot, entrepreneur, owner and founder of Queen Mayonnaise, Khutsiso Chuene decided to donate shoes to learners.

Staying in Polokwane but originally from Mathibela village just outside the city, Chuene decided to give back to his hometown alongside his friend Phemelo Moa and donated school shoes at Sekutupu Primary School and soccer boots at Groothoek Zebras Football Club.

“Let’s keep changing lives. One pair of shoes will give one child hope, faith and pride to go to school and get an education. Let’s create good memories so that when the children grow up, they remember such happy moments,” Chuene said.

He added that it would be an honour for the learners to one day say they remember they didn’t have shoes to walk to school with, but met someone who changed their lives.

“In the near future, these individuals are the potential doctors, pilots, engineers and professors, and they will look back and remember this day forever – a day that gave them the courage to go on in life and in school,” he said.

Chuene is also the founder of the Khutsiso Sports Development Foundation, which aims to growing community sport and keeping children of the streets.

“I believe such activities enough reason for learners to not drop out of school.”

He requested other individuals, and the public and private sector to assist with his school socks and stationery drive in the hope of giving children in Limpopo a better future. “There are so many schools in the province with learners who don’t have school uniforms and shoes. Let’s start giving back.”
