Another foreign national drug dealer arrested in Bendor Park

The Provincial Organised Crime Unit's efforts to curb drug dealing in the city has resulted in several arrests over the last few weeks.

POLOKWANE – A foreign national (40) appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today on charges of possession and dealing in drugs following his arrest on Saturday (September 9) in the city.

The man was nabbed during a disruptive operation by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit who had received a tip-off from the community.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the team cornered the suspect in Bendor Park while inside a parked motor vehicle.

“During the arrest, CAT with an estimated street value of R60 000 was seized as well as a motor vehicle,” his statement read.

The man’s arrest follows several others in the Polokwane area over the last few weeks with the most recent being a Nigerian man’s arrest on September 6.

The suspect was spotted in a parked, white motor vehicle selling drugs in a park in the city. He was found in possession of crystal meth, CAT and heroin with an estimated street value of R50 000.

Just days prior to that, a 29-year-old suspected drug dealer was arrested at the city centre taxi rank and was found in possession of heroin with a street value of R5 000.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe thanked the community for responding to the call of playing their role in the fight against drug related crimes in the province.
