Limpopo ANCYL seeks advice from their elders

Young people in the province are concerned about the high number of unemployment among the youth and are seeking ways to get them on government database.

LIMPOPO – The ANC Youth League in Limpopo has embarked on a programme of visiting communities to hear about the challenges they face, and seeking advice from senior traditional leaders and elders when they visited the Tshivhase Traditional Council in Mukumbani village, Luaname on August 26.

The chairperson of the league, Tonny Rachoene said as young people and future leaders, they initiated the #MagoshiFridays and Community Wednesdays with the aim to seek advice in terms of their conduct and the road to becoming better leaders.

“We also work hand in hand with the councillors in various municipalities across the province and we visit communities on Wednesdays. The shortage of water remains a serious challenge to many communities and where possible, we will try to drill boreholes for such communities,” said Rachoene.

As young people in the province, they are concerned about the high number of unemployed young people, and are seeking ways to get them on government database so they can be absorbed into internship positions, or for job placement, he added.

“We want councillors to put the people they serve first and not interfere in the work that is supposed to be done by traditional leaders.”

Rachoene and his group also handed over a cow to senior traditional leader Thovhele Midiyavathu Tshivhase, who said their visit to the village, as young people seeking advice, was a first for him and that he welcomed their efforts to seek advice from their elders.
