Giyani police investigate murder outside local tavern

The man, identified as Simon Zane Shibanda, was found lying on the ground with two gunshot wounds at a local tavern.

LIMPOPO – The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned a tavern murder that led to the death of a 39-year-old man in Giyani on Sunday.

The man, identified as Simon Zane Shibanda, was found lying on the ground with two gunshot wounds at a local tavern in Homu 14B just after midnight.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said emergency services were called to the scene and certified the victim dead on arrival.

“The motive behind this horrific act has not been established yet and will form part of a murder investigation by police,” his statement read.

The Limpopo police are calling on the public to assist them with the investigation in the hope of finding those responsible.

“Anyone with information should contact the investigating officer Warrant Officer Minyuku on 082 729 0327, through the crime stop number on 08600 10111, at the nearest police station or via the MySAPSApp.”
