Limpopo traffic officer arrested for murder denied bail

Polokwane Provincial Traffic officer Kabelo Duba was arrested at his home in Penina Park after he was positively linked to the murder of his girlfriend.

POLOKWANE – The 34-year-old traffic officer attached to the Polokwane Provincial Traffic Unit, Kabelo Peter Duba, will remain in custody until September 4 following his appearance in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Duba was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Kedidimetse Moche (26), whose body was found dumped under a bridge near Chuenespoort, Lebowakgomo on August 17.

Moche was identified by police and was a student at the Tshwane University Of Technology (TUT) Polokwane Campus.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said Duba faces charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, theft of deceased’s cellphone and defeating the ends of justice.

“The suspect was arrested at his home in Penina Park by members of the Murder and Robbery Unit and the provincial tracking team after he was positively linked to the incident. During the arrest, an unlicensed firearm with ammunition and as well as some exhibits were recovered,” his statement read.

Duba’s bail was denied and will appear in court again on Monday as police investigation continue.
