Woman’s body found under bridge near Chuenespooort

The deceased is estimated to be between 30 and 35-years-old and sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body.

POLOKWANE – The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has labelled the murder of an unknown woman as senseless and puzzling.

The woman’s body was discovered under a bridge near Chuenespoort along the R37 outside Lebowakgomo on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said they had received a complaint about a corpse suspected to have been dumped over the bridge and on arrival, found a man who en route home from work, discovered the woman’s lifeless body.

“Emergency services were summoned to the scene and certified the woman dead on arrival. The deceased is estimated to be between 30 and 35-years-old and sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. She has two tattoos on both arms,” his statement read.

The woman was found wearing a white t-shirt, grey tracksuit pants with white socks and multi-coloured sneakers.

“The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage and police request anyone who can assist with the identification of the deceased to contact the investigating officer Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Baloyi on 082 565 8234, the crime stop number on 08600 10111, at the nearest police station or via the MySapsApp,” Ledwaba said.
