Seshego teen off to the Big Apple for Youth Assembly
The Youth Assembly is a global platform that aims to foster youth leadership and development by bringing young leaders from across the globe together.
POLOKWANE – August started on a high note for Milton Makgothoma (19) from Seshego, as he forms part of the South African delegation at the 28th session of the Youth Assembly in Philadelphia and New York City.
Under the theme, Breakthrough to a Better Future, the event is penned for August 8-13.
The Youth Assembly is a global platform that aims to foster youth leadership and development by bringing young leaders from across the globe together. The assembly will also see over 91 nations and this will also help the young leaders to explore and learn from each other, collaborate, and make a positive impact on the world.
Makgothoma defined himself as a champion for change and progress, and he believes that this life-changing opportunity will take him to even greater heights.
Among other activities that he will participate in in the US, is a three-day course on change-making, offered by the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a four-day conference in New York where he will get an opportunity to engage with other youth leaders and discuss strategies for a better future.
He said being part of the Youth Assembly serves as a testament to his diligent work, leadership qualities, and dedication to making a positive impact in society.
Makgothoma is also the founder of a non-profit organisation called Lesedi Academic Information Hub, which helps learners with university and bursary applications, a social entrepreneur, a second-year law student at the University of Witwatersrand, and a digital content creator.
He advised young people to dream beyond their imaginations, “Your background does not determine your future, you can achieve anything and everything you put your mind and soul to.”
