A clean learning environment for CM Sehlapelo Primary on Mandela Day

Ward 12 representatives, the Salvation Army and members of the community came out in numbers to assist a clean-up and gardening campaign as part of Mandela Day.

POLOKWANE – Learners at CM Sehlapelo Primary School in Seshego Zone 3 will be attending a cleaner campus today thanks to the efforts by Mashaane Machaka, the Arise and Shine Modelling Academy and Natural Minds.

Learners and teachers clean their school’s premises.The group got together on Mandela Day with learners from the school to spend their 67 minutes in a clean-up and gardening day at the school.

Machaka is a volunteer at the school and works to develop children and help them identify their skills and talent.

While unpacking the purpose of the campaign, Lesego Moloto of the Arise and Shine Modelling Academy said they saw the need to dedicate their time to clean the school.

“A clean environment makes for a clean mind and we are here to ensure that our learners are in a clean learning environment for effective learning,” she said.

Part of the campaign was Ward 12 representatives who donated plants and school uniform for learners in need; the Salvation Army who donated toiletries for the school and helped clean up as well as members of the community who came in numbers to support the initiative.

“Today we came together as a community to ensure that our children are in a clean learning environment and we did our part for Mandela Day as well,” resident Magdeline Makhananisa said.
