Career day hosted in Seshego attended by over 600 learners

The WeCan Foundation provided career guidance and higher education information to Gr 12 learners during the event.

POLOKWANE – Over 600 learners attended and benefited from the 2023 WeCan Foundation Career Day hosted at the Ngwako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Seshego on Monday.

The foundation hosted its seventh career day and chairperson Mokgadi Morapi said they wanted to provide career guidance and higher education information to Gr 12 learners at schools affiliated with the WeCan Foundation in the Capricorn District.

“We seek to expose Gr 12 learners to information regarding access and associated courses at higher education institutions, the minimum requirements for qualification at these institutions and possible professional paths that they may be interested in pursuing,” said Morapi.

She added that the foundation is confident that its successful execution of this year’s career day will enable further affiliation with other schools in the province and the country.

The event was attended by various schools in the area as well as Moletjie and surrounding areas and exhibitors included the University of Pretoria, Boston City Campus, Lephalale, Mopani South East, and Waterberg Tvet Colleges; the SAPS, forensic services, Mediclinic Limpopo, the Bokamoso Farmers Academy and others.

It was also attended by the Capricorn District Municipality mayor Mamedupi Teffo

“The event was a great example of the phrase ‘a child is raised by a community’ and proof that together we can. We strongly believe that education is the most powerful weapon, ” Morapi said.
