60km from Polokwane to Mokopane for charity

The Lephotse Foundation had their annual walk to raise donations in the form of non-perishable foodstuffs, blankets and money for the less fortunate.

POLOKWANE- The Lephotse Foundation embarked on its annual charity walk from Polokwane to Mokopane on July 1, joined by hikers and runners who took part in a 30km and 60km walk.

According to the founder, Lephotse Kekana, they go hiking every month, but the annual walk is held to raise donations in the form of non-perishable foodstuffs, blankets and money for the less fortunate.

She said they also promote a healthy lifestyle.

“We want to encourage people to live a healthy lifestyle through being adventurous.”

The proceeds will be donated to various families in Ga-Mashashane.

“It warms my heart to know that this walk will benefit someone out there, and we are grateful for everyone who donated,” Kekana added.

The first runner to arrive in Mokopane was Makwena Onimus, who also won last year.

Participants in the walk received participatory medals upon their arrival in Mokopane.
