Thee Dynamite uses music to escape

Tebogo Katsaiti, also known as Thee Dynamite has over two decades of experience in the entertainment industry.

LIMPOPO- “Music allows me to escape to another world, where I find peace and healing. It is a platform for me to interact and connect with people from different walks of life.”

These are the words of South African Soul and RnB DJ, philanthropist and entrepreneur, Tebogo Katsaitis.

Katsaitis, who is known as Thee Dynamite in the entertainment industry, has been active for more than 20 years.

She is the co-founder of Katsaitis Music and this allows her the opportunity to work with renowned artists such as Monique Bingham, Rocco, Shana, Black Coffee, Vinny da Vinci, Christos, Ralf Gum and Webster.

Katsaitis holds a BA in psychological counseling and family mediation from Unisa, business management from Pretoria Technikon (now TUT) and events management from Damelin.

She regards herself as a DJ, “with a strong interest in the execution of events and creative arts”.

“Music has always been a part of me. I have been active in the industry as a booking agent and artist manager, until my passion for music led me to start working as a DJ, and I have not looked back since. At the time I was a restaurant owner and our focus was house music, and I used to invite soul DJs on special occasions.”

After a chat with Eddie Zondi whom she invited to the establishment, she was inspired to start exploring soul and RnB, said Katsaitis.

She said her desire to make an impact in people’s lives is a motivating factor in her life every day.

“I always tell myself if I can make a difference in one person’s life, then I would have lived a purpose-driven life. It has been a remarkable journey of lessons and growth. I am actually shy and reserved but when I get on stage, Tebogo remains behind and Thee Dynamite takes over,” she said.

She thinks women in the industry struggle to find recognition and as a result, have to work twice as hard to prove themselves.

“You need a support system and find other women who resonate with what you do.”

Her family is supportive, and of course this helps, she told CV.

“My parents always encouraged me to study first, before pursuing music. My secret to success is determination and knowing that if you set your mind to what you want, anything can be achieved.”

Her biggest achievement, she says, has been the opportunities she has created to better the lives of young people.

“I work as an account manager and I have a foundation where I dedicate my time and energy to bettering communities. Dynamite Entertainment, a booking and artist management agency where we also mentor young creative minds does great work. And this matters,” she concludes.
