Limpopo student wins R66m PowerBall jackpot through banking app

PowerBall operator iThuba said Lady Luck found the man through a quick pick selection on his Capitec app and that the single ticket matched all the winning numbers.

POLOKWANE – A Limpopo student is R66m richer after winning the tax-free PowerBall jackpot.

The student is said to have claimed his winnings on Friday (June 30).

PowerBall operator iThuba said lady luck found the man through a quick pick selection on his Capitec app and that the single ticket matched all the winning numbers resulting in the extraordinary win.

“The fortunate individual followed his dreams to pursue a higher university education and he will soon be embarking on local holidays and potentially, their first overseas travel,” a press release read.

The CEO of iThuba Charmaine Mabuza said the student is the first big PowerBall winner on the Capitec banking platform this year, followed by a LOTTO jackpot winner who won over R22m on February 11.

“The fortunate winner will now be faced with endless possibilities and a newfound financial freedom that comes with such a significant windfall and we at iThuba recognise the life changing impact of this win,” she said.
