POLOKWANE – The Ndini household in Seshego Zone 4 was recently filled with joy and celebration as the Matome Rapetsoa Foundation (MRF), Seshego Community Against Crime against Gangsterism (Scacag), Limpopo Anti Drugs Gangsterism and Crime (Ledgag) and other organisations joined hands to assist after their home was engulfed by fire.
The family had since been asking for donations and MRF heard their call through their Doing Our Part project.
The project will help those in need and the Ndini’s were the first to receive assistance.
MRF founder Matome Rapetsoa said the project mainly focuses on people who have lost their valuables or loved ones due to natural disasters.
The organisation officially handed over a total of R100 000 to the family which was raised through the project. In addition, the family also received a total of R80 000 from the community, food, clothes and building material.
The family were also given R120 000 by the Mayor of Polokwane John Mpe who said the money can be used to purchase valuables lost in the fire.
A representative of the family Lucas Tsheola told the Polokwane Observer that they are grateful for the support they got from various stakeholders during their tough time.
“We are out of words as a family. When we lost our house, we thought it was the end of the world only to find out that there is light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
The celebratory event also saw a candlelight ceremony which was led by Yvonne Sale.
She reminded the attendees and the family that despite difficult challenges people go through, they should bare in mind that it will be well.
