West Fest brings Westenburg community together

The aim of the West Fest was to bring back the happiness and the pride of being a Westenburger, according to one of the organisers Tazwell Adonis.

POLOKWANE- Roughly 600 community members in Westenburg enjoyed a day filled with fun at Saturday’s first annual West Fest, held at the Westenburg park.

The event catered for all age groups with exciting children’s games, DJ performances, cooking contests, dancing competitions, all with the aim of bringing back the happiness and the pride of being a Westenburger, according to one of the organisers, .

The Vatti Khaki cooking group at their stall; Angeliqua Basson, Carmen Adonis ,Danielle Adonis, Fiola le Roux, DJ Adonis and Dillon Adonis.

Although the entrance fee was just R50 for all except those under the age of 13 who paid just R35, numerous prizes were up for grabs and the proceeds will go to a good cause.

The organisers of the event, a group of 16 young locals called the WestSide Stance Society, organised themselves initially with a vision to give back to the community not only to those in need but also through entertainment.

“We had officially launched our crew and started off with a small gathering in our community and got a lot of support and requests that we do a serious and bigger event,” he tells Polokwane Observer.

Chuene Manyelo and Lerato Raphaswana are the dance challenge winners.

Party decoration worth R4 500 by Tazquin Party Décor – Delreece Sprieman.

Bricks pallet by Two Santos – Bianca Adonis and Trisha Buys.

Cake worth R1 200 by Chef Kay – Shoneez Slaffa.
