Mudodzwa’s village vineyard dreams come true

The owner of Macbeth Premium Wine Mudodzwa Macberth Ndou said the brand is not just a means of generating an income but one that will bring change and inspiration to many.

LIMPOPO- Selling wine has turned out to be a fruitful, enjoyable means of survival for Mudodzwa Macberth Ndou.

Ndou is the owner of The Macbeth Premium Wine and says many people would not take this on as a job.

But to him, this is what he does to earn cash.

Macbeth Premium Wine comes in five blends, namely semi-sweet shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinotage and sweet red.

Ndou, from Duthuni village outside Thohoyandou, said the idea came to him in 2022 when he received his first batch of wines for tasting, and he has not looked back.

“I have always wanted to be different and break the social norm that people from my background can only achieve certain things at a certain age. My drive is to go beyond that limit. My journey so far has been nothing but exciting, and the joy of learning new things about the industry and meeting people from various backgrounds and environments inspires me.”

Running a start-up from the ground with little capital and even less knowledge of the industry did not make it an easy process, he admits.

“Every day I learn something new. Macbeth Premium Wine is not just meant to generate an income, but it brings change and inspiration to many. This is a village dream come true, the beginning of a revolution and nothing but an empire in the making. As the slogan of my brand says, The Path is Made By Walking, my goal is to open a way for many others that come after me, and be the light for those who have lost hope,” he said.

He told CV that his biggest achievement is the fact that he started something that he thought was not easy.

“I come from a very loving family, and the support I receive from my siblings and parents is unmatched. I face my challenges better knowing that I have a supportive family. There is no real secret to success, besides consistency. With all the challenges I have been through, I could have given up but then somehow I had to keep going and we are still on the go,” he said.
