LIMPOPO- The R22m state-of-the-art Malamulele High School, built by the Education Department in conjunction with the Independent Development Trust (IDT) was handed over to learners and the community by Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya last Wednesday.

“I am overwhelmed by the massive infrastructure that we have constructed for this community. I think I am even more excited than the recipients of this beautiful school, because I know the change that it will bring in the form of good results,” said Lerule-Ramakhanya.

The project will go a long way in addressing the injustices of the past and restore the dignity of the black child, she added.

“In March when I presented the budget speech, I indicated that 2023/24 is the year of school infrastructure. I mentioned that among the schools that I will be handing over to the community is Malamuele High School, and we are here just to do that. We want to appreciate the people of Malamulele for your patience since the inception of this beautiful project.”

The MEC said they need the support of parents, guardians, community safety structures, pastors and civic structures to instil and maintain discipline in schools. She also expressed concern at the rate burglaries are committed at schools.

“We may not have the adequate resources to hire security personnel to guard all our schools, and we need you to come on board. We need active safety structures that will jealously guard the schools in the area,” she added.

The CEO of the IDT, Tebogo Malaka said when they were approached by the department, they immediately came on board for the advancement of learning and teaching.

“The building of the school also forms part of poverty alleviation, as rural unemployed communities around Malamulele were temporarily employed and were able to provide for their families.”

The principal of Malamulele, Isaac Nkuna said he is surely proud of the new school, and that it would go a long way in motivating learners to product good results.
