POLOKWANE – Motorists travelling to and from Polokwane are advised to use the R101 as an alternative route as the N1 has been temporarily closed.

The spokesperson for the Department of Transport Tidimalo Chuene said the closure is due to an earlier collision.

“The road is temporarily closed in all directions around the Nyl Toll Plaza in the Waterberg District for emergency services to attend to the scene,” her statement read.

Chuene said motorists traveling south from Polokwane are advised to join the R101 at the Zebetiela Toll Plaza towards Mokopane. Motorists travelling north will be directed by traffic officials to join the R101 towards Polokwane.

“Please exercise patience and proceed with caution,” she said.

Reports suggest multiple injuries were reported and emergency services are currently on the scene.
