Patricia is an advocate for mental health in the modelling industry

Patricia Rammutla believes that models should take care of their mental and emotional being before they try to help others.

POLOKWANE – Patricia Rammutla believes that the modeling industry should be used as a platform to advocate for mental health.

The model, pageant organiser and coach wants to be a voice for the voiceless and help those who are scared to voice their concerns.

“I believe that I was born to help those who feel like they are not worthy enough,” she said.

Rammutla also explained that mental health education and awareness in the modeling industry is of paramount importance as it creates and gives models a platform to help people and to also be a reflection of the people.

“People look up to you when you are in the spotlight and follow whatever you do so if you do good things, they will follow,” she said.

She added that it is very crucial for models and pageant organizers to always spread awareness on social media and at their events so that the message can reach the intended target group.

However, in the process of advocating for mental health, she also believes that models should take care of their mental and emotional being before they try to help others.

Rammutla started her modeling journey in early 2022 after she noted a lack of motivation and drive in some models. She then started to participate in modeling competitions just to boost the self-esteem of young girls and to show them that it’s possible to live out their dreams regardless of their age.

“I wanted to be the self-love, self-confidence of the girl child and to make them love themselves,” she explained.

Besides her advocacy work and modeling, Rammutla is also a proud mother of seven and deputy chairperson at Ntseekgopu Primary School.
