Police crack down on another drug house in Polokwane

A suspect was arrested at a house in Hoog Street on Friday (May 19) in possession of drugs worth R10 000.

POLOKWANE – A 43-year-old man will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (May 22) on charges of possession and dealing drugs following his arrest on Friday (May 19).

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the man was arrested after the Provincial Organised Crime Investigations Unit and the Polokwane Crime Intelligence Narcotics Team followed up on a tip-off regarding a suspect dealing drugs from a house in Hoog Street.

“A raid was strategically carried out by the two teams at the given address. Upon searching the premises, police found 160 pieces of rock and 14 sachets of Cat worth an estimated street value of R10 000. The suspect’s motor vehicle was also confiscated as part of the investigation,” his statement read.

A week before, a man was also arrested in Polokwane on several drug charges following the discovery of a drug laboratory at a house in the city.

Drugs such as nyaope, crystal meth and rock with an estimated street value of R1m and a suspected stolen grey hatchback worth R240 000 were confiscated during his arrest.

Prior to that, two foreign nationals were arrested at a house in Bendor in possession of 11 balls and 100g of nyaope with an estimated street value of R56 000.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the teams involved in ridding the province of drugs.
