Police on the hunt for armed robbers who targeted Savannah Mall

Police confirmed that two of the store's employees were assaulted by armed suspects who took thousands of rands worth of jewels during the robbery.

POLOKWANE – The police in Polokwane say a team of investigators have been tasked to trace and arrest the suspects responsible for the business robbery at a jewellery store in Savannah Mall on Friday (May 12).

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a group of armed men entered the store at around 09:00 and demanded money and gold from a 33-year-old woman who was on duty.

“The suspects proceeded to the display area and safe and took jewellery worth thousands of rands and put it in bags. Two of the suspects assaulted the employees before they fled the scene in a grey sedan,” Ledwaba said.

At the time, Savannah Mall management said the police and the local CPF arrived swiftly on the scene to assist with the investigation into the matter and the footage has been given to them.

Mall management added that no shots were fired and that security were involved.

“We request anyone who might be able to identify people in the pictures provided to contact the Detective Commander Colonel Linkie Mathebula on 064 756 8218, the crime stop number 08600 10111, the nearest police station or via the MySAPS App. Police investigations continue,” he said.
